Mom's Banana Bread Recipe - Yum!

Banana Bread:

2 cups flour

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

2 medium bananas

1/3 cup milk

1 teaspoon lemon juice or vinegar
1/2 cup chopped walnuts or semi sweet chocolate chips {optional}

Preheat oven to 350 F. In a small bowl combine flour, soda and salt. In the bowl of an electric mixer combine butter, sugar, eggs and bananas. In a small bowl combine milk and lemon juice or vinegar. Add flour mixture and milk mixture to banana mixture alternately, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix well. Add nuts or chocolate chips if desired. Pour into greased baking pans. I used square muffin pans, but you can use any baking pan your little heart desires. It will be delicious no matter what shape it is in. Baking time will vary. In muffin pans I baked for approximately 15 minutes. For a loaf pan bake approximately 45 minutes or until pick comes out clean. Enjoy!

Lemon Curd {Favorite Recipes}

I couldn't find my Lemon Curd recipe tonight and had a little melt down. I found it! and to make sure that never happens again I am going to start adding my favorite recipes to my blog. What a splendid idea, I shall never lose one again and I will have access to them from anywhere. Aren't blogs grand!

Lemon Curd
{by the way, this is the easiest, tastiest, lemoniest curd around}

3 large egg yolks
Zest of 1/2 lemon
1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
6 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold and cut into pieces

Combine yolks, lemon zest, lemon juice, and sugar in a small saucepan. Whisk to combine. Set over medium heat, and stir constantly with a wooden spoon, making sure to stir sides and bottom of pan. Cook until mixture is thick enough to coat back of wooden spoon, about 5 minutes.
Remove saucepan from heat. Add the butter, one piece at a time, stirring with the wooden spoon until consistency is smooth.
Transfer mixture to a small bowl. Lay a sheet of plastic wrap directly on the surface of the curd to avoid a skin from forming; wrap tightly. Let cook; refrigerate until firm and chilled, at least 1 hour. Store, refrigerated in an airtight container, up to 2 days.

Thank you to everyone for your support at our cupcake fund raiser "Cupcakes for Haiti". We sold 600 cupcakes and raised $1259.73 to donate to the America Red Cross to assist in the relief efforts in Haiti.

Thanks to the awesome kids of Rancho Santa Margarita... Breanne, Kaitlin, Taylor, Connor, Haley, Corinne, Brooke, Kathryn and Tanya for spending their entire Saturday selling cupcakes in the rain to help kids less fortunate.

My name is Tawnya Zebrowski and I am the Owner {Executive Mix Maker}of Vintage Bakeshop, all natural baking mixes. Coming from a family overflowing with talented, artistic people it is no surprise that I felt the need to challenge myself creatively. Being driven by the desire to be my own boss I originally started a custom wedding favor business in 2005. After running myself ragged (literally) trying to make ALL things beautiful and delicious, I decided to narrow it down and turn to what I knew best... baking. Vintage Bakeshop offers all natural baking mixes made with the finest ingredients available. Our mixes are great for everyday use, but they can also be customized with personalized labels to be given as favors and gifts. They are unique and innovative and the entrepreneur in me is satisfied. Finding myself still captivated by wedding favor trends and ideas I started a blog in 2009... Stylish Giving. I spend my "spare time" scouring the internet for beautiful and inspiring favor and gift ideas to share with my readers, and I must admit it is a bit too much fun.
